The Waterfall Kostenets is located on the river Chavcha, south of the village of Kostenets. Its height is almost 10 meters, and the largest amount of water falls when the snow melts. It was declared a Bulgarian natural landmark in 1974, and the plants on the rocks around it are protected.
In 1917 Ivan Vazov spent the summer in Kostenets and was inspired by the surrounding nature. Thus he wrote the collection of poems "July Wrist", together with his later cycle of poems "Dissonance", republished in 1921 under the title "What the Mountain Sings". Two of the poems are dedicated to the Waterfall Kostenets: "Above the waterfall" and "The waterfall cries".
